Gas Discharge Tube

The Gaz Discharge Tubes (GDT) are passive components made of two or three electrodes in an enclosure filled with a rare gas (no radioactive) at a controlled pressure. They protect equipment from transient overvoltages. The main use is to protect telecommunication lines, however CITEL has developed proprietary technologies that are used in many other applications such as the protection of AC network (see bellow GSG products).

The gas discharge tube is an electrical component at the heart of CITEL's know-how.Indeed, CITEL is one of the rare surge protector manufacturer to produce its own component GDT. GDTs are present in the neutral modules of CITEL surge protectors as well as in the specific VG diagrams (see VG technology).
