New generator junction boxes from CITEL Compact and safe solutions for PV systems

Only functioning photovoltaic systems meet the demands of the operators for environmentally friendly electricity and an economic exploitation of the system. With the new series of generator junction boxes CiPlug1, CITEL offers optimal lightning and surge protection for small and medium-sized PV systems. The basis for the revision of the previous junction boxes was the new version of DIN VDE 0100-712:2016 and IEC 60364-7-712:2017, which describes the requirements for operating sites, rooms and installations of a special kind - Photovoltaic (PV) power supply systems. Among other things, "Working under voltage" is also described there. As an innovation, overcurrent protection for parallel strings (string fuses) has been prescribed. Furthermore, the standard describes that overvoltage protection on the DC side is required if such protection has also been installed on the AC side. The change in the standard increases the requirements for the safety of PV systems.

With the new generator junction boxes, the small dimensions are particularly noteworthy, which are optimal for installations of on-roof systems in residential areas. The new devices with protection class IP65 are equipped with pre-assembled solar cables and MC4 plugs, which enables the solar installer to install them quickly and safely. The inverter's MPP tracker is specially protected, which is related to the maximum system voltage of 1,000 V. Depending on the equipment, the CiPlug1 is also suitable for with and without external lightning protection. The devices are available in 4 variants, individual solutions are available on request.
